Are you accepting new clients?
At this time, I do have some availability during early weekday afternoons. Unfortunately, evenings and early morning appointments are not available.
Do you work with children or teens?
My practice only accepts adults age 18 and up.
What forms of payment do you accept?
I accept credit card, cash, and check as well as many HSA's.
Do you accept insurance?
I can accept insurance through the following companies:
-ExcellusBCBS
-MVP (non-medicaid/medicare. Please contact customer care at 1-877-742-4181 to verify your benefits for behavioral health and coverage for Licensed Mental Health Counseling.)
-ValueOptions
-Aetna
-TRICARE
-Emblem Health
-Military OneSource
I am also able to provide receipts for out-of-network insurance reimbursement. You are encouraged to review your insurance plan to identify whether out-of-network reimbursement is an available option for you.
Many people actually prefer not to involve their insurance companies in their payment of mental health treatment, as they do not wish to have a "paper trail" of any mental health issues that they have addressed with a therapist. Without having your insurance company involved, we are able keep all records of your treatment private, and do not share anything that you discuss with your therapist in session, outside of life threatening circumstances**, unless we have your signed permission to do so.

What are your fees? And do you have a sliding scale?
To maintain comparable rates to those within the community, my fee per individual therapy session is $90, with the exception of the first visit, which is $100 as it is a longer visit. Please be aware that if you have a deductible plan, your fees may vary based on the requirements of your insurance. As I am able to take insurance, I do not offer a sliding scale at this time.
What happens if I cannot keep my appointment?
With ample notice (preferably at least 48 hours, and at no less than 24 hours,) you may reschedule your appointment as needed, through online scheduling using the button at the bottom of this page.
Please be aware that if you do not show up for your scheduled therapy appointment and you have not rescheduled at least 24 hours in advance, you will be required to pay the full cost of your reserved session time. Insurance does not cover the cost of missed visits.
**Is everything I share in session with you kept confidential?
By law, I as your therapist must and will keep everything that you discuss in session confidential, unless they have your signed permission to share with a specific person or agency. In some circumstances your therapist may ask for your permission to contact your primary care doctor and/or a family member to coordinate your care, however, you have the right to decline consent for me to do so. Do be aware that certain insurances require me to be in contact with your PCP in order for your therapy to be reimbursed, and I will need your consent to communicate with your PCP in order for you to be able to pay via insurance. In the event that you do sign a consent form, I may discuss with that person/agency some general information related to what you are working on in treatment and may ask them if they have any concerns about your well-being.
The main exception to confidentiality is that I am also required by law to be sure that everything is done to ensure that you and others are safe from harm. If I learn that you may be in danger of attempting suicide, of causing serious harm to yourself, or of causing harm to others, or have caused harm to others, I may have to go outside of confidentiality to ensure your safety/the safety of others.
Again, I encourage you to ask me any questions at any time about confidentiality practices or any other matter not discussed on this page.
Are you able to supervise students for practicum or therapists with permits who are building hours?
At this time there is no further availability at Moynihan Counseling Services to offer supervision of either form, however, we recommend that you check www.NYMHCA.org which offers a tab to search for available supervisors.
